The Stage 3 Cooling Package adds the CSF Intercooler along with your ECU flash. Stage 3 refers to an upgraded exhaust (purchased separately, not included) and upgraded intercooler along with your Stage 1 or 2 ECU tune. Upgrading the intercooler allows for cooler intake air temps (IAT's) which allow you to not only pick up a little power, but hold power longer. This is especially beneficial in the summer months or in hot climates.
M-Engineering has been at the forefront of Porsche ECU tuning, and has spent countless hours of research and development to provide reliable performance improvements. The 992.2 platform is no exception, and we are excited once again to be a World's First to such an incredible car.
M-Flash for the 992.2 requires mailing in your ECU to our Pompano Beach, Florida facility for processing and unlocking the ECU. Expected turnaround time is 7 to 14 business days. This is due to the extensive security protocols within these ECUs which are labor intensive to get around. The ECU will be returned to you with the tune already installed and map switching active!
ECU Removal instructions are located here.
Adjustments are made to improve the throttle response, remove top speed limiters, adjust air/fuel ratios, increase boost, and modify ignition timing and much more to improve the overall driving performance of the 3.0L twin-turbocharged engine. M-Engineering still utilizes all OEM ECU engine safety strategies as well as our own custom engine safeties written with our unique code.
What's Included?
- M-Flash Calibration with On-The-Fly Live Map Switching
- M-Tuner V1 Dongle for clearing faults and datalogging
-
CSF Intercooler System for Porsche 992.1 Turbo / Turbo S and 992.2 Carrera Base / T
Maps are available in Stage 1 or Stage 2 (upgraded link pipes) calibrations. Please specify your specific hardware upgrades with us when you mail in your ECU.
Live Map Switching
On-The-Fly Live Map Switching comes standard on all calibrations (Stage 1 and Stage 2). The purpose of this feature is to quickly change between different power levels relating to the octane you are filling up with. This is all controlled via the cruise control stalk. Information on how to use Live Map Switching can be found here.
Map Slots
Slot 1 - ACN91 (Arizona, California, Nevada 91)
Slot 2 - 91 Octane or 95RON
Slot 3 - 93 Octane or 98RON
Slot 4 - 100 Octane or 103RON
Slot 5 - Engine Safety (Detonation Defense)
Engine Safety Map Slot (Slot 5)
M-Engineering has written custom code for additional engine safeties beyond what is provided from the factory. Our engine tuning strategy has always been for engine safety first, and power second. This has allowed us to maintain vehicle reliability and have the most powerful calibrations on the market proven time and time again in competitive racing series, at the drag strip, and setting world records at Pikes Peak.
Our custom code has allowed us to implement what is called “Detonation Defense” which is an engine safety that detects excessive knock events. When knock events beyond a set threshold are met, within 20 milliseconds, the car will automatically be put into map slot 5 for a brief period of 10 seconds. In map slot 5, the car will have reduced power and engine load to prevent damage. This proactive approach protects your engine and allows power to return once conditions are again safe.
M-Engineering also has unique custom features for your Porsche which we include at the time of purchase. These are designed from custom code and are not available from other tuning solutions. These come standard on our OTS maps and are not configurable for change at the moment.
- Raise Rev Limiter by 200rpms.
- PSE Exhaust Valve Modifications (true ON or OFF function, no need to buy a standalone PSE valve controller). Adds sound and power without any hardparts modification. Active when PSE button is pushed or when in Sport / Sport +.
- Loud Cold Start Elimination (Stage 2 only)
- Auto Start/Stop Elimination
-
Free Revving in N (neutral, not Park), vehicle no longer capped at 3500rpm (PDK2 only, not available for manual)
Frequently Asked Questions:
Does this void my car's warranty?
Yes.
Is OBD2 / Port Flashing available?
M-Tuner and dongle flashing support will be released at a later date.
Is ProTuning available?
Yes, only at our Pompano Beach facility due to the nature of bench flashing the ECU and the workflow to get dyno mode to work. Please reach out to us for more details.
Can the ECU be flashed back to stock?
It can be flashed back to Stage 0 only, however the ECU will still be unlocked for tuning and still visible to anyone looking.
Is ECU cloning available?
ECU cloning is not currently available for the MG1 ECU.
Can the custom features be customized?
When port flashing becomes available in the future, users can define unique settings. More details to come in the future.
Can map slots be customized?
Yes, with ProTuning.
Are E85 tunes available?
We will provide ethanol updates in the future.
Is PDK flashing available?
PDK Tuning is coming soon! No ETA.
Can you activate dyno mode?
In order to put the car in dyno mode, a real PIWIS 4 will be required. This can't be done with M-Tuner on 992.2 at the moment.
Can Porsche overwrite the tune file on the ECU?
Yes. In the event this happens, contact M-Engineering for more details. The ECU will have to be unlocked again. The cost to do this is 50% of the original purchase price. Avoid having your ECU flashed over by the dealer.
I'm a tuner, can M-Engineering unlock an ECU so I can tune this myself?
No. Our tools are proprietary and for internal use only.
Why is this flash more expensive than 992.1?
Due to the nature of the labor intensive unlock process, the pricing of this flash is higher than the generation before it. It is possible this cost could go down if improvements are made to the security bypass. Our calibrations are all built from the ground-up with our M-Composer Tuning software. We do not use European server tune files for our calibrations. Our maps are all developed in-house with the M-Engineering calibration and engineering team. We are a proud and small family / employee owned business in the USA.
These are the current vehicles supported by this version of M-Flash. Please review our calibration notes below for more information regarding hardparts requirements, octane requirements, and additional dyno plots.
